If you have submitted your application successfully, you will receive a receipt confirmation email from Voith within the next 30 minutes.

All questions about any aspect of the training courses will be answered fully by the training management staff.

Upon successful completion of the recruitment test and following a thorough review of all application documents, a shortlist of suitable male and female applicants will receive invitations to attend our selection days. We will inform you of the exact date you should plan to keep free for the selection day when we invite you to take the recruitment test. This helps to facilitate timely planning for you and for us.

3. Selection day
On the selection day itself, we will welcome you and twelve other applicants, and you will take part in a series of exercises and a personal interview which will help us to learn as much about you as possible.
At the same time, you will also have the opportunity to get to know your future training management team and experience the work atmosphere in our company.
We will be glad to answer all of your questions.

Salzgitter - Application Process

Technical training

1. Review of application
When the "busy" application phase begins (usually in late summer/autumn), your applications are sorted by training needs and reviewed.

The form of your application, the graduation qualification you expect and your grades in subjects related to your career field are all very important for a successful application with us. This is why it takes us a several days to select the candidates we consider suitable.

If you are applying for industrial professions such as metal-cutting machine mechanic or industrial machine mechanic, your grades in mathematics, physics and chemistry are of most importance to us. If you are able to convince us with your school-leaving certificate, you will be invited to take a recruitment test, which is usually held at the end of the year.

2. Recruitment test
The results of this recruitment test will be used as the basis for the second review of your applications, which will be carried out afterwards. If this result is positive, we will invite you to a job interview.

3. Job interview
For this interview, we will invite you to visit us. You will talk to a member of our Human Resources department and one or two training managers. We will use this opportunity to learn a little more about your personality. (What are your goals? Are you a team player?). You will also have the chance to get to know and experience the work atmosphere in our company.

4. Mailing of contract
After this interview, you will also receive a telephone call informing you of our decision, and if we are both in agreement we will send you your training contract.

Commercial training

1. Review of application
If you are interested in training for a business profession, you should also have at least a Satisfactory grade in mathematics. We also consider subjects such as business accounting (depending on the kind of school you attended), politics, labor and economics. Your school-leaving certificate should generally be of a high standard.

2. First job interview
Following the selection of applicants, we will invite you to a personal interview, which lasts about an hour. This is your chance to convince us you are a suitable candidate with your poise and subject matter knowledge. You will be interviewed by members of the Human Resources department. Besides your grades, we will also be interested in your personality and how you will fit into an existing team. For this reason, we sometimes also ask business trainees from earlier intakes to sit in on the interviews as well.

3. Second job interview
After the first interviews and another pre-selection process, we will invite you to a second interview. This second interview is very short, it only lasts about 30 minutes.

4. Mailing of contract
If the course of this interview is satisfactory too, you will be informed of your success by telephone and shortly after that you will receive your training contract.

Schaku: Joint practical and academic training program

1. Application
If you intend to pursue a dual training program, combining practical instruction and classroom learning, the grade average on your school graduation certificate (which serves as your right of admission to study at a technical university) should be at least 2.4. In this context, we also attach particular importance to your individual marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry.

2. Multiple job interviews
Following this, you will have a chance to shine in job interviews with staff from the Human Resources department and commercial training managers.

3. Mailing of contract
If we find you suitable and both sides are interested in pursuing the relationship, you will then receive a grant contract, a traineeship contract, and our assurance of a permanent position with the company upon successful completion of your training course.

4. Offer of a position
When you begin your industrial training with us, you will receive two copies of your training contract. You must send both copies back to us, signed by yourself and a parent or guardian if applicable, so that we can ensure the employment relationship is registered with the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. One copy of the contract will be returned to you. As a future trainee, if you are still a minor you must also provide us with a medical clearance certificate (this is usually prepared by your family doctor after a physical examination). And finally, as a future colleague you must give us all of the documentation we need in order to add you to our payroll (social security number, income tax information, certificate of membership in a health insurance fund, bank details and a copy of your identity card). When this is done, you will start your training on September 1 of that year.

5. Your first day at work
Everyone will no doubt be a little nervous on their first day at work. In order to make the start of your professional life as easy as possible, you and the other trainees will spend the day with your future trainers. We will answer any general questions about work dress, payroll, working hours etc., and will then take a guided tour of the site together. At the same time, you will be introduced to the people you will be dealing with in the operational departments. In the afternoon, the commercial and the industrial trainees will part ways. Since industrial professional training is conducted off-site with an external training company for the first year, you can still visit and look around the training workshop. This visit marks the end of your first day at work, and your training can begin.
