Principle of operation

Dampers in drivelines must provide high levels of damping during resonance passage and load impacts. This is exactly what makes vibration insulation in the operating area more difficult. Engine irregularities can lead to significant vibration and noise problems here. Hydrodamp solves this apparent inconsistency.

The highly elastic vibration damper with spring-mass system has a separately aligned damping system. It displaces critical resonance, insulates minor vibration amplitudes and dampens very effectively.

Advantage: driving at an economical speed range

The Hydrodamp allows frequent driving in more efficient, lower speed ranges. This not only saves on fuel, but also reduces emissions. It can also be well integrated into modern ecological drive concepts.

Hydraulic damping can be adjusted to the respective application conditions. This allows effective damping of the resonance passages, switching impacts and jerking, without having to give up the insulating effect in drive mode.

Damping and insulation

Increased vibration amplitudes occur with resonance passage (e.g., when turning the engine on or off) or load impacts. The Hydrodamp hydraulic damping system dampens it decidedly.

Temperature stabilizing damping oils or greases are used. Thus, the system is effectively relieved of excess vibration energy at higher temperatures.

Minor vibration amplitudes may not reach the transmission in order to avoid vibrations or troublesome noises in drive mode. Optimal insulation is required.

How does that work?

The damping ring has a defined clearance. The vibrations are captured and insulated. The advantage is optimum vibration insulation at lower speeds as well.

Spring-mass system

Radial aligned cylindrical pressure springs transfer the motor torque from the primary coupling part to the secondary one. The low stiffness of the springs and the favorable mass arrangement shift the critical resonance below the operating speed range.

The identifier can be optimally adjusted to the requirements by varying the spring parameter and an angle-dependent use of the springs.

Even lighter motors and measures on the drive side contribute to increasing the vibrations, for example, the trend for more transmission gears, low-viscosity transmission oils and higher torque peaks from power shift transmissions.
