In May 2003 Voith Paper Rolls started to serve Asian papermakers with high-end roll covers, mechanical roll services and regrinding out of the Kunshan plant,  located in Jiangsu province, and the Dongying plant, located in the Shandong province of China. Since start-up of the two service centers in China, a team of 150 members manufactured more than 1,200 rolls covers and ground more than 2,000 rolls for the Asian paper industry.

The expansion will start in October 2007 and is scheduled to be completed by August 2008. The "new service center" will not only be extended in the roll cover manufacturing area for polyurethane, composite and rubber covering, but also in the mechanical roll service shop for suction rolls, zone controlled rolls and spreader roll service. With this set up, Voith Paper Rolls China in Kunshan will be the most modern, environmental friendly and largest one stop shop for roll covers and mechanical services in the Asian Pacific Region.

An additional positive advantage will be generated by a combined new office building for Voith Paper Rolls and Voith Paper Fabrics China, providing combined process know-how as the technology leader out of one location in Kunshan, China.

The decision for this investment was made shortly after the start up of the recently established thermal coating line at the Voith Paper Rolls China, Dongying (Shandong Province) plant, which is now equipped with the latest state-of-the-art thermal coating line for hart metal coatings for all type of rolls for the paper machine.

Voith Paper Rolls China can be called the only full liner for rolls covers and mechanical service in Asia, prepared to handle all types of equipment providing the required process know-how and technology to support our customers in Asia.
