Voith Turbo: In Stavanger, Norways fourth-largest city in the south of the country, 166 new Volvo buses will enter service from next year 295 New Buses for Stavanger, Vestfold and Oslo In Stavanger, Norways fourth-largest city in the south of the country, 166 new Volvo buses will enter service from next year. Nearly all of the buses are fitted with Voith DIWA 864.5 transmissions, ensuring optimum driving comfort and maximum economy in a wide range of operating conditions. But this is not all: in the Vestfold region and in Norway's capital Oslo, a total of 129 additional buses will run from next year - also fitted with DIWA transmissions. The 118,000 inhabitants of Stavanger are frequent users of their public transport facilities. The oil-producing city in the Fylke of Rogaland ("Fylke" is the Norwegian name for political administration districts) is home to numerous petrochemical companies extracting the "Black Gold" from the depths of the North Sea. There is no metro, but there are numerous, well-functioning bus lines. From January 2008, these lines will be added by a total of 166 new Volvo buses of the types B7RLE, B12BLE 6x2 und B9LE. For the Fylke of Vestfold, west of the Oslo Fjord, the bus manufacturer Solaris received an order for 49 Urbino 12 buses - fitted with DIWA 864.5 transmissions. The new buses will be put in service in the 40,000-people town of Tønsberg. With this contract, Solaris extends its application range from city to more rural areas. Voith Turbo has been fitting MAN buses with DIWA transmissions for over five decades. Paying tribute to this proven partnership, the Oslo transport operator Sporveisbussen has ordered 80 MAN citybuses (40 solo and 40 articulated vehicles) with Voith DIWA transmissions. Delivery of the first transmissions will start in April 2008.
