The dam and the power house house already exist and were built by national utility DSI. According to the new Turkish energy law the Independent Power Producer (IPP) Limak Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. acquired both in a public auction. The major challenge was to meet the customers’ expectations of a capacity increase of the machines without modifications of the civil structures. Voith Siemens Hydro designed three Francis units with a rated capacity of 32 MW each plus the according electro-mechanical equipment for the existing power house. Originally, it was constructed to house three turbines with a unit capacity of 24 MW.

For Voith Siemens Hydro this contract is already the fifth within the last 24 months from a Turkish IPP investor within the large hydro segment.
