Voith Paper: Each year, the three paper machines in Maxau produce up to 750.000 tons of high quality magazine and newsprint paper TerraSpeed coating lives up to its name Each year, the three paper machines in Maxau produce up to 750.000 tons of high quality magazine and newsprint paper. Since February 2007, the TerraSpeed coating has been used on the PM 8 in Maxau. Despite a speed boost of 50 m/min on the machine, the draw was still reduced by 0.3% due to TerraSpeed. Because of this success, Stora Enso Maxau is going to cover two more press rolls with TerraSpeed. “We have been limited in residual speed due to high draws. Now TerraSpeed allows us to reach a higher speed,“ explained Kurt Hofner, Manager PM 8 at Stora Enso Maxau. TerraSpeed - the new generation of ceramic coatings, designed to meet the highest demands of papermakers. TerraSpeed leads to less sheet breaks, lower draws and uniform sheet release in the press section. Voith Paper is a division of Voith and one of the leading partners to the paper industry.
