Voith Paper: Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Germany awarded Voith Paper Air Systems the contract for two large air conditioning systems for its facility in Trier, Germany Voith Paper Air Systems gains important contract by JTI in Trier Japan Tobacco International (JTI), whose headquarters are located in Tokyo, is the world’s third largest cigarette manufacturer. JTI Germany awarded Voith Paper Air Systems the contract for two large air conditioning systems for its facility in Trier, Germany. The systems will supplement the existing air conditioning system in the machinery room, where. the cigarettes are produced. The new systems not only replace the old equipment supplied by Wiessner, Bayreuth in 1971 and 1972, they also guarantee to meet the highest requirements with respect to precise room temperature and humidity control. With these air treatment systems the highest standards of hygiene, according to VDI 6022, have to be achieved, too. Therefore special humidifiers and filter systems among other equipment will been installed. The control and monitoring system has to meet highest demands, not only for this reason but also to ensure a cost-effective and environmental friendly operation of the entire air conditioning systems. This equipment will be a further reference at JTI and will help Voith Paper Air Systems to be considered as a supplier for air treatment systems for JTI’s future investments in Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa. JTI was founded in 1898. R. J. Reynolds' international business operations were taken over by JTI in 1999. Their leading brands are Camel and Winston - well known all over the world. In April 2007, JTI aquired the Gallaher Group, a British tobacco manufacturer with 16 production sites worldwide. While the group focuses on its international expansion over the next few years, the German plant in Trier is also one of their lead factories, employing a staff of 1,500. This facility essentially serves the European market with its products. Voith Paper Air Systems covers the entire range of air systems products: The know-how for paper machine hoods, air conditioning, air ventilation and heat recovery systems is concentrated in Bayreuth. The specialists for non-contact-drying as well as non-contact web guiding systems are located in Mönchengladbach. There are approximately 180 employees at Voith Paper Air Systems.
