Voith Turbo: As many as three major Turkish bus manufacturers rely on axles from Voith Turbo Drive Systems. Isuzu, Otokar and Temsa Rely on Voith Axles As many as three major Turkish bus manufacturers rely on axles from Voith Turbo Drive Systems. Last year, Anadolu started its series production of buses with four ton-axle loads with rigid axles from Voith. 700 axles have been supplied so far. For 2008, deliveries of another 800 units are scheduled. The Turkish bus manufacturers Otokar and Temsa, which are strongly focused on the European market, are also about to commence series production with Voith axles. IFS front suspensions from Voith Turbo Drive Systems have already been tested in Otokar prototype vehicles. Otokar intends to produce up to 250 buses of the nine-meter version of the Vectio series this year. The Turkish OEM also wants to launch the smaller-scale series production (approximately 100 vehicles) of 12-meter low-floor and low-entry buses with Voith IFS and rear portal axle. At the recent Busworld Show in Kortrijk, the Otokar buses attracted much attention because of their striking design. At the IAA in Hanover this year Temsa plans to present its "Opalin" midibus series. The company, founded in 1968, has built a new production line in Adana in the south-east of Turkey in recent years. In 2009, approx. 400 "Opalin" buses with front suspensions from Voith Turbo Drive Systems is scheduled to be produced at this new site. The new buses will primarily operate in Turkey. "The rest is destined for Europe", states Mark Werkman of Voith Turbo Drive Systems. The Turkish bus builders offer their vehicles with either diesel or diesel-gas engines. Voith Turbo, the specialist for hydrodynamic drive, coupling and braking systems for road, rail and industrial applications, as well as for ship propulsion systems, is a Group Division of Voith AG. Voith sets standards worldwide for papermaking technology, power transmission, energy technology, and industrial services. Voith was founded in 1867. With approximately 37,000 employees, annual sales of € 4 billion and over 270 locations worldwide, Voith is one of the largest family-owned companies in Europe. Voith is an official partner of the initiative "Germany – Land of Ideas." |
