Voith Industrial Services: Voith Industrial Services is presenting itself at the maintain 2008 as a service provider to the processing industries.

Strategic acquisitions strengthen its position

Voith Industrial Services is presenting itself at the maintain 2008 as a service provider to the processing industries. The company, a subsidiary of Voith AG, is creating its second focus of activity in Europe with the acquisition of several providers of services to processing industries. Its range of services for refineries and for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries has been enlarged.

Voith Industrial Services is based in Stuttgart and has in the past focused its activities mainly on the automotive industry. But for some time now it has been working on expansion of its range of services to processing industries. Indumont GmbH was integrated back in 1997 and the imo Hüther Group in 2003. The core activities of both these companies are erection and maintenance of chemical manufacturing plant and provision of process engineering services.

Towards the end of 2007 Voith Industrial Services strengthened its position in northern Europe with the acquisition of SIS Skandinavisk Industriservice, a Danish company based in Ringsted and specialising in services to the petrochemical industry. SIS has accumulated nearly 40 years’ experience in handling shut-downs of industrial operations and also possesses significant expertise in the construction of storage tanks and piping systems. Voith Industrial Services’ acquisition of the Ermo Group early in 2008 laid the foundation stone for further growth in this sector—and is also a further important step towards implementation of the strategy calling for expansion of its range of services. Voith Industrial Services is now well on the way to becoming a specialist provider of comprehensive services for processing industries. It now offers a broad spectrum of services closely related to industrial production—including standstill management, plant maintenance and audits, construction of storage tanks, piping systems and allied equipment. It can also offer engineering and other services for modernization, conversion, dismantling and re-erection projects planned by companies in the processing industries.

With Ermo and SIS now belonging to its group, Voith Industrial Services has been able to broaden its portfolio of services and augment its human resources. It now employs some 1,350 qualified personnel in Europe for provision of services to the processing industries alone. The long-term objective of its acquisition strategy is partly to gain readier access to business in the local markets of the acquired companies, but also to enable the group to handle crossfrontier projects in this field in the same way as it already does in the automotive industry. The use of uniform standards and the existence of clearly-defined interfaces help to ensure an optimal cost/benefit ratio and significantly reduce the level of guidance input required from the customer.

Voith Industrial Services, a division of Voith AG, is a leading provider of technical services for key industries. With 18,900 employees in more than 150 locations all over the world, Voith Industrial Services operates globally through its brands DIW, Premier, Hörmann Industrietechnik, and Voith, and has generated a turnover of about EUR 800 million in 2007. The growth of the company is not just restricted to the aviation industry. The latest acquisitions of SIS Skandinavisk Industriservice at the end of 2007 and Ermo in March 2008 have expanded the company’s portfolio in the process industry. With the acquisition of CeBeNetwork in June, 2008, the company has strengthened its engineering sector.

Voith AG is setting standards in the markets for paper, energy, mobility, and service. Founded on January 1, 1867, Voith today employs more than 37,000 people in over 270 locations all over the world. With a turnover of EUR 4.1 billion, it is one of the largest family-owned companies in Europe.

Voith is the official partner of the ‘Deutschland - Land der Ideen’ initiative.
