Voith Paper: Rondo Ganahl AG has commissioned Voith Paper Automation with delivery of a quality control system for the PM 2 in Frastanz, Austria. Definitely the right partner: Voith Paper gets order from Rondo Ganahl for a completely integrated QCS Rondo Ganahl AG has commissioned Voith Paper Automation with delivery of a quality control system for the PM 2 in Frastanz, Austria. With this investment, Rondo Ganahl pursues the goal of improving the efficiency of the system as well as paper quality. The existing measurement system is being replaced by a new Voith LSC scanner with moisture, ash and basis weight measurement as well as a color sensor. Due to the rugged scanner design and service-friendliness of the Voith LSC measurement system, in the future maintenance and service costs on the PM 2 can be lowered. In addition, OnQ ModuleTap actuators for control of the existing dilution water headbox are included in the automation package to attain optimal basis weight CD profiles. The OnQ Profilmatic control software ensures that constantly high paper quality can be produced. Moreover, Voith delivers several MD controls such as multi-layer control and jet-wire ratio control. The highlight is the OnQ GradeManager: grade change time can be substantially improved with automatic grade change. Thus, it is possible for papermakers at the PM 2 to both flexibly meet customer requirements and at the same time to efficiently produce. Maik Willig, General Manager at Rondo Ganahl AG Frastanz, commented on placement of the order with Voith as follows: "We chose Voith as our automation partner because the solution offered provides complete integration of the Voith quality control system into our existing process control system. We thus have a uniform and integrated operating and engineering interface for the future. Since the whole project runs in familiar programs and language, we have additional assurance that we chose the right partner." Rondo Ganahl AG has its headquarters in Frastanz, Austria, a town rich in tradition within the state of Vorarlberg. Corrugated board in the basis weight range of 120-200 g/m² is produced on the PM 2. With a machine speed of up to 900 m/min and a wire width of 2,720 mm, on average 300 tons of testliner per day are produced.
