Preventing child labor: the Catavento Project
The Catavento project was conceived by the Instituto Semear, Plantar e Transformar. The goal is to combat child labor by providing educational opportunities for children aged 7 to 16 and their families in the Jaraguá and Taipas region. Since 2023 Voith Brazil Foundation helps to fund the activities to support more than 80 children.
The catavento team proactively helps to get children and adolescents off the streets and out of child labor by offering educational, cultural and sporting activities when the children are not at school. The project offers ballet, hip hop, jiu jitsu, math and Portuguese classes. Furthermore, there is an extended services of job placement for the students’ families.
