Founded in 1970, Ermo, like Voith AG, was until now a family-owned company. It is a premium provider of technical services primarily for the petrochemical industry and for power plants. In Europe it is leading in shutdown management and maintenance, and like Voith Industrial Services, it also provides services to the chemical as well as to the pulp and paper industry.

With this acquisition, Voith Industrial Services moves ahead with its expansion plans: In addition to a strong organic growth, the company has already successfully integrated several companies in the last few years, one of the recent ones being the Danish company SIS Skandinavisk Industriservice AS in November 2007, which is also a specialist in technical services for refineries and power plants. Other than the automotive industry, in which Voith Industrial Services is already a leading provider of industrial services worldwide, the company is assuming an important role in the premium segments of the process industry in Europe.
