Upon completion, Longkaikou hydro power station, located on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in the southwest of China, will have a total installed capacity of 1,800 MW and generate 7.8 million MWh of electricity on an average per year.

On the occasion of the contract signing ceremony, Aage Dalsjoe, President of Voith Siemens Hydro Shanghai stated that “we have strong bonds with Yunnan. As early as in 1904, Voith Siemens Hydro had provided turbines and generators for Yunnan’s Shilongba, the first hydro power plant in China. This early supply constituted a clear milestone in the history of hydro power development in China.”

Besides Longkaikou, Voith Siemens Hydro is currently also supplying equipment for two more hydro power stations of Langcangjiang Hydro, Xiaowan and Nuoz-hadu.
