Voith Turbo: Voith Retarder - A Strong Brand Pride and joy all round. As in 2007 and 2008, the Voith Retarder took again first place among the "Best Brands". 8 000 readers of the technical magazines lastauto omnibus, transaktuell and FERNFAHRER were asked in Germany to vote for the best commercial vehicles and brands. The award ceremony was held at the DEKRA head office in Stuttgart on 16 June 2009. Dr. Volker Zimmermann, Executive Vice President and in charge of the Business Division Road at Voith Turbo, accepted the prize on behalf of the Product Group Retarders from the host Paul Göttl (Divisional Manager ETMservices) of EuroTransport Media Verlags- und Veranstaltungs GmbH. "We are delighted and proud about this prestigious award," said Dr. Zimmermann. "It is an excellent demonstration of the trust and the loyalty of our customers in our company and our products." To date, over 550 000 Voith Retarders have been delivered worldwide. Voith Retarders are high-performance economical and environmentally friendly endurance brakes. The braking process is virtually wear-free, as a result the service brakes are protected and last up to four times longer. The contribution to a cleaner environment is convincing, because - based on a mileage of 1 500 000 km - the 550 000 retarders have a brake dust savings potential of approximately 53 tons (brake dust reduction with retarder: 96 kg per vehicle). This corresponds to approximately 2 120 fully laden articulated trucks with a payload of 25 tons. The latest results of a consumption test in cooperation with a neutral industrial examining body (TÜV SÜD Automotive GmbH, Garching) have also confirmed that Voith Retarders save fuel. In vehicles with retarders combined with automated manual transmissions, the fuel consumption was reduced by up to 0.33 liters per 100 km. Voith Turbo, the specialist for hydrodynamic drive, coupling and braking systems for road, rail and industrial applications, as well as for ship propulsion systems, is a Group Division of Voith AG. Voith is setting the standard in the paper, energy, mobility, and service markets. Established on January 1, 1867, Voith is now one of the largest family-owned businesses in Europe, with 43 000 employees, 4.9 billion euro in sales, and over 290 locations worldwide. Voith is an official partner of the initiative "Germany - Land of Ideas". |
