Aladin Beyond: Data are the future of mobility management

  • New cloud-based solution for innovative and efficient monitoring and maintenance of buses
  • Data-driven diagnostics of the highest standard
  • Everything from a single source and in one report

HEIDENHEIM, GERMANY. Based on its decades-long experience in the bus segment, the Heidenheim-based global technology group Voith has now developed a new cloud-based solution for the intuitive, data-driven monitoring and maintenance of the Voith Electrical Drive System and DIWA automatic transmission: Aladin Beyond. It offers everything from a single source and in one report.

“Our new support solution for bus fleet management offers our customers an innovative and efficient option for monitoring and servicing their buses in combination with our proven SmartCase tool,” explains Julia Rosenfeld, Project Manager Aladin Beyond at Voith Turbo. SmartCase collects and transmits all relevant data to the cloud and then produces detailed reports that are sent to the customer automatically by email, either weekly or monthly depending on their specific preferences and requirements.

The centerpiece of the platform is a sophisticated monitoring system that continuously captures and evaluates the vehicle data. Aladin Beyond not only registers current malfunctions but also monitors apparently rectified problems – a crucial advantage to create transparency and identify recurring problems in good time.

Due to the systematic evaluation of historical operating data, preventive maintenance is also being taken to a whole new level, because the platform identifies maintenance needs before critical failures occur. This results in much reduced life cycle costs, optimized vehicle performance, and lasting protection of investment value.

“Another key feature is that the maintenance team is notified automatically whenever problems are identified,” says Rosenfeld. The system can automatically alert to maintenance requirements, allowing problems to be rectified promptly. The direct communication between Aladin Beyond and fleet operators minimizes response times and administrative work.

If desired, Aladin Beyond can even take things a step further: Via an interface to the Voith Turbo spare parts webshop, parts that are needed can be ordered directly from a link in the maintenance report. This seamless integration significantly accelerates the procurement process by customers.

“The detailed analysis of vehicle efficiency is another impressive feature,” adds Rosenfeld. For example, Aladin Beyond analyzes the braking behavior per kilometer traveled or the percentage of kick-down accelerations. With the help of this data, fleet managers can identify wear-intensive driving styles in good time and take appropriate countermeasures as needed.

In addition, all reports and analyses are available as PDFs anytime and anywhere, regardless of device used – from desktop to smartphone or tablet. This means that fleet managers can have a constant overview.
