With your bachelor’s or master’s thesis, you will build a theoretical foundation, while keeping a strong practical focus. You’ll work independently – but with our full support.

Writing your final thesis with us

You can write your final thesis in any field: mechanical engineering, process engineering, automation technology, paper technology, or physical engineering as well as controlling, purchasing, human resources, or project management. An experienced team member will guide you through the entire process. Operational issues will be addressed together with us and your professor. You’ll have enough time to write your thesis while gaining valuable on-the-job experience.

With my final master’s thesis at Voith, I want to contribute to more sustainability in the paper industry. The project is varied and I’m completely in charge: from developing the concept to implementing it.

How much time do I have to write my final thesis?

Generally, you have three to six months to write your final thesis. The exact duration depends on your university’s exam and study regulations. However, it is possible to combine your final thesis with a voluntary internship to expand the time frame to six months for example and gain more on-the-job experience. This makes sense if you want to get to know the department, operations, and work culture before signing the contract for your final thesis.

How much time will I have outside of my work for Voith to write my final thesis?

The final thesis is a clear priority for both you and your supervisor. Voith will grant you enough time to write your thesis during working hours. You will of course support the team’s everyday operations to gain on-the-job experience. However, this doesn’t mean that you should neglect your thesis.

What’s the application process?

Once you’ve uploaded your application, we’ll acknowledge receipt of your application by email. We’ll need some time to process your application and will get in touch personally after a few days. If your application convinces us, we will invite you to an (online) interview to get to know each other better. Based on the interview, you’ll be accepted or not.

What documents do I need to apply for a final thesis at Voith?

If you’d like to apply to write your final thesis at Voith, we require the following documents:

Cover letter
CV
Certificate of enrollment
Your university’s exam and study regulations
For non-EU citizens: residence and work permit

You’re welcome to upload additional documents, such as your transcript of records or work references.

May I work from home?

If you write your final thesis at Voith, you’ll have the possibility to work partly remotely. The exact home office days will be determined individually with your team. It is not possible to work exclusively from home. However, there’s also no obligation to work from home.
